She does enjoy hanging out and is an extrovert but doesn't really trust close relationships having grown up as an orphan, foster child, and then orphan once again. She is a hard worker who is passionate about her life's work in Engineering and has found good ground in the aspect of fair supervision with high expectations.
Ambitions Annett isn't really sure what she would like to do next. She found herself in the role of command accidentally but enjoys it. She does know that she is looking to remain as part of Starfleet for as long as possible.
Hobbies & Interests Annett was an avid basketball, field hockey, and track team member throughout her time as a child, teenager, and then throughout college in her undergraduate years. She is also very into music, has a great voice but doesn't sing in front of others, and is trying to teach herself the piano.

Personal History Early Life
The tiny town of Nyack, New York, rich in history and maybe one day would list Annett Matthews as one of its former residents. Born on the 8th of March of 2110 in the local hospital; Annett Matthews' life got off to a rough start. She was found by an officer of the local police force at the door to the station when returning from patrol.

The first twelve years of her life were spent in an orphanage located across the river in Valhalla. It was a state-run facility and she had many siblings but lost them often to adoption. The two times the adoption process had started for herself they fell through for one reason or another. Eventually, she taught herself to be self-reliant, and while she had many acquaintances and friends throughout her time in the orphanage she eventually gave up on close relationships or the idea of becoming part of a family.

It wasn't until the age of twelve when she found herself in a foster home she was in the care of a woman in her fifties, Michelle Turbot, who owned a bakery and lived above it. It was the first time that Annett ever knew what it was like to have a home. She worked in the bakery to help out and was very engaged in her studies. She was even able to skip the eight grade and graduated high school at age seventeen.

Her interest in science and engineering came from Michelle's husband who had passed on before Annett's arrival. While browsing through the collection of books in the living room she discovered textbooks and journals from the engineering field some even written by the man himself. He was a civilian professor at West Point and her research led her through the journey of his education and career and she was determined to follow along in the man's footsteps.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck once more in Annett's life and Michelle passed away in an accident while Annett was on a weekend trip to her future college. She was placed briefly in a group home but successfully petitioned to be emancipated and went off to college where she emersed herself in everything Virginia Tech.

College (Undergraduate)
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, better known as Virginia Tech, saved Annett. As a member of the Corps of Cadets, she made her own choice and decided to head to the Air Force wanting to design starships for the United Space Probe Agency. In addition to the Corps of Cadets, she also participated in the VT Squirrel Watching Club and was an advisor for VTEngage during her freshman and sophomore years.

As for the Corps of Cadets her freshman year she was given the role of guidon bearer for her company, she felt an honor. Her sophomore year she was assigned as a Cadet Sergeant and Squad Leader within her platoon. Junior year Annett was assigned as the Battalion's Command Sergeant Major and at this point deciding to give up her role within VTEngage. Her senior year she served as Battalion Commander and graduated as a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel.

In addition to her Corps of Cadet activities, she continued as a member of the Squirrel Watching club serving as Vice President during her junior year. She graduated in 2131 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and Design. With graduation also came her commission in the United Earth Air Force as a Second Lieutenant.
